I engaged Mr Philip McNeil to design a mixed used building on a narrow site on a main route in the North Inner Dublin City in May 2003. I engaged Philip as his work had come to my attention while working on a previous project in Co Clare. The contemporary style of his work was what I had envisaged along with the attention to detail. These were important factors to me in selecting an architect.
The brief was for a contemporary mixed use design with retail on the ground floor and residential on the upper floors. All residential units were to be large and to be in excess of the minimum standard size for a one bedroom apartment.
Philip worked on the design and planning for over three months, the planning authority was involved in the process. The concept remained the same but the outer envelope was redesigned a number of time to suit the request of the planning authority. Given the site size, the result exceeded my expectations, a beautiful modern and contemporary mixed use building.
Philip was great to work with. He guided the process through the design to the planning application and all in between. I would have no hesitation in recommending Philip on any project. He brings a total dedication to any project.
