Goals

To create a contemporary refurbishment of a farm building with a new elevated open plan first floor. A modern approach, making up the majority of today's best selling house plans. Creating a larger family-friendly residence, an open concept floor plan to maximize space and provide excellent flow from room to room. Open plan homes combine the kitchen and family room (or other living space) into a single great room that's perfect for relaxed entertaining and informal gatherings. An elevated upper floor open-concept layout with the kitchen to the heart and functional center of the home, often featuring an island that provides extra counter space and a snack bar with seating. A vaulted or decorative ceilings to add drama. This contemporary-style approach to a  traditional use farm house feature very Large glass sliding doors with clerestory windows above stretch across the whole front elevation of this open-plan space, maximizing daylight in the kitchen, living, dining and study areas. Iroko sheathing facade first floor over a limestone ground floor base. 3 ground floor bedrooms with en suite off the master bedroom and guest bathroom floating stairs to first floor open plan living, dining and kitchen with a study/snug area. A design solution to reflect a forest setting for family use or retirement. A full design and tender package was issued to suitably qualified contractors.
