Proposal The development will consist of the following work to this “protected structure” in 10 rooms out of 16 existing:

 

Planning Permission sought for refurbishment works to existing sliding sash windows of the main house, including renewal and upgrading of draft proofing, replacement of cracked and broken panes of glass, remedial works to existing cords, weights and internal timber shutters, replacement and refitting of appropriate ironmongery and the provision of new internal secondary glazing with opening sections to match locations of existing sashes and all necessary repairs to frames generally, at Killiney House, (a Protected Structure ) Killiney Hill Road, Killiney, Co. Dublin.

 

 

A careful critical analysis was carried out on the existing windows and looking at various options from which the Architects selected their considered best solution giving the house a better heat retention with no adverse effect on the windows providing proper heat retention to the occupants for its future use bearing in mind the buildings status as a “protected structure” in an Architectural Conservation Area and the architects were subsequently instructed by the owners to submit these proposals to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council for approval.

The architectural integrity of the original structure will be maintained and the special architectural interest will not be adversely impacted on. The existing house character and entire external appearance of the house will remain unaffected by the works.

To prepare and administer a works contract for the restoration of of sash windows and installation of secondary glazing, eradication of dry and damp rot and other minor works.
